Season Preview - Women's basketball

The 2011-12 season presents a great opportunity for second year coach John Lauro and assistants Kevin Bach and Caitlin O'Keefe because the team is comprised of seven freshman and three returning players from last year's MHC regular season Champs. The sophomore list starts with returning point guard Molly Gillespie (Pine Bush) who won many wars on the hardwood last year. Natalie Melendez (Burke Catholic) returns to a more comfortable position of small forward. Natalie is a very steady player and gives us quality time on the floor. Mackenzie Conklin (Minisink Valley)after missing her senior year of high school gave us some quality starts and hard-nosed play the months of January, February and March.
The seven freshmen all have superior qualities being either height or speed. This class of freshmen is led by 5'10 Brittani Romenelli (Beacon), 6'0 Myrriah McIntosh (Abe Lincoln), 6'2 Nyokie Chandler (Middletown), 5'10 Alexis Tripodo (Minisink)as forwards; and 5'6 Shedarian Daniels (NFA), 5'5 Tara Sullivan (Burke), and Loriel Pinckney (Middletown) as guards. As they mature to the college game, they could make it exiting for SUNY Orange this season.
