Colts Take Two - Win Region Crown
Thursday, May 2nd, 2013
The Colts won 2 of 3 games against Monroe CC to win Region XV Title. Amber Butenhoff was the winning pitcher in both games and added two homeruns in the series. The colts offense was powered by Butenhoff, Christine McCormack and Lorna Pierson. District 21 Tournament will be played at host Mercyhurst North East on May 4th and 5th.
Orange Sweeps Dutchess

Cassie Duffy won both games as SUNY Orange swept SUNY Dutchess, 12-10 in eight innings and 12-1, in a Mid-Hudson Conference twinbill in Poughkeepsie. In the opener, Lorna Pierson went 3-for-5 with four RBI, Danielle Gomez had two hits and three RBI and Amber Butenhoff had two hits and two RBI. In the second game, Megan Michel went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBI and Butenhoff was 3-for-4. Orange is 3-4, 2-0 MHC. Orange continues play Friday, April 5th with a double header vs Morris CC at Home.
Softball Downs Briarcliffe

The colts won their first time out this season against Briarcliffe College 2-1. Meagan Scialabba and Lorna Pierson each had one hit and one RBI a piece. Cassie Duffy got her first win in the circle throwing a complete game with six strike outs. The colts look to take the field again on March 25th against Morris CC.
All-Region Teams Announced

Suny Orange Softball Player Amber Butenhoff earned All-Region Player of the Year. Her bat lead the Colts offense and she split time between shortstop and pitching. Joining Amber on the All-Region team include Pitcher; Amber Corrigan, Catcher; Danielle Gomez, Right Fielder; Fran McLeod and Second Baseman; Katey Knapp.
Softball Battles in Districts

The SUNY Orange softball team topped Community College of Rhode Island 7-6 on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s finals of the NJCAA District 1 tournament in Warwick, R.I.
Orange (22-8) opened the day with a 3-1 loss to Mercyhurst North East.
In the opener, Amber Butenhoff had a double and run and Amber Corrigan lost a four-hitter. In game two, Corrigan won the game and Butenhoff went 3-for-4. Lorna Pierson’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning tied the game. Katie Mack’s third hit produced the game-winning RBI.
On Sunday, Orange needed to beat Mercyhurst twice to advance to Nationals in Mississippi. The colts battled hard and broke the opposing pitchers perfect game in the top of the 7th inning. Butenhoff and Corrigan had back to back singles which brought Danielle Gomez to the plate. Gomez cracked a three-run homerun to lead Orange to a 3-0 victory. The colts jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game two; however, could not hold on for the win. Gomez, Katey Knapp and Corrigan each had two hits a piece in game two.
The Suny Orange Softball team ends their season with a 23-9 record. They won Mid-Hudson Conference Title as well as Region XV Crown. The Colts took tremendous strides since January and gave it their all during each game. We'd like to thank the graduating Sophmores for their efforts and dedication and wish them well in the future.
Butenhoff Earns Mid-Hudson Conference Honors

Suny Orange Softball player, Amber Buttenhoff, was voted as the Most Valuable Player of the 2012 Softball season. Buttenhoff, who plays both as a pitcher and shortstop, led the Colts in Batting Average with .609 recording 53 hits in 87 at bats and producing 35 Runs and 46 RBI's. She also leads the Colts in Stolen Bases (10) and second in Home Runs. The Port Jervis native was also the first player to be voted Player and Pitcher of the Week in NJCAA Softball this season.
The colts continue play next weekend as they travel to Rhode Island for the District Tournament
Softball Wins Region XV Crown

The colts took two games from Monroe College in a best-of-three Region XV Division II tournament to claim the title. Amber Corrigan earned her 14th and 15th wins on the season pitching outstanding performances in both games. She tallied 9 strike outs on the day and did her part at the plate as well. Corrigan hit a two-run homerun, added two doubles and two singles with 3 RBI on the day.
Amber Butenhoff continued her hot hitting by belting a three-run homerun in the first game and a solo shot in the second. Butenhoff also added two doubles and two singles on the day. Lorna Pierson had two hits in game one and Katey Knapp added three hits in game two including a 2-run triple. The colts tallied 25 hits on the day.
Suny Orange will head to the district tournament in Rhode Island next weekend.
Softball Clinches Conference Title

The Colts sweep of Westchester CC today clinched the Mid-Hudson Conference Title. Suny Orange went 6-0 in Conference play and continue play next weekend in Regionals. The colts battled through a tough game one, winning 3-2 in 10 innings. Amber Corrigan pitched a complete game including 10 strikeouts. In game two, the Colts bats came alive and produced 12 hits and 8 runs. Amber Butenhoff received the win while tossing a one hitter. Danielle Gomez also hit her 7th homerun of the season.
Suny Orange continues play on April 28th against Monroe College in Regional Play at Purchase College at 12pm.
Butenhoff Receives National Recognition

Butenhoff became the first NJCAA softball player to earn both Player and Pitcher of the Week this season due to her dynamic efforts last week for the Colts. Offensively, Butenhoff batted .846 (11-for-13) with 14 RBIs and eight runs scored. The freshman belted three doubles, two triples and a homer on the week. On the mound, Butenhoff dealt 10 innings with no earned runs and 13 strikeouts. Orange County and Butenhoff will head to Columbia-Greene CC (N.Y.) Saturday for double-header action.
Amber Butenhoff also received Mid-Hudson Conference Player of the Week for her outstanding hitting performance.
