SUNY Orange Colts Earn Regional Bid with an Extra Inning Win at Dutchess

The baseball Colts beat Dutchess CC 3-2 in eight innings in the second game of a Doubleheader on Saturday. Ryan DiMarzo pitched a complete game and added a sac fly for Orange. Matt Cartwright broke the 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth with a line drive base hit to score Dillon Merola from second. DiMarzo set down the Falcons in order in the bottom of the eighth to send the Colts to the playoffs. The Colts have won the Region 15 tournament in 2006 and 2010.

Baseball Colts Down Sullivan

The SUNY Orange Baseball team defeated Sullivan today 1-0. Jose Rondon pitched a complete game shutout to lead the Colts. Dillon Merola led off the bottom of the first with a single, and eventually scored on a Ryan DiMarzo sac fly for the game's only run. That run would be all that Orange needed. Rondon scattered six hits over the nine innings, walking two and striking out six. The Colts are in action Friday vs. Sullivan, first pitch is at 3:30.

Colts Have Successful Trip to NC

The SUNY Orange Colts returned home from a successful spring break trip down south to split a doubleheader with Columbia-Greene CC on Saturday. The Colts went 4-3 on their annual southern swing to North Carolina. The highlight of the trip was playing perennial national power Lenoir CC at Grainger Stadium, former home of the Kinston Indians. The Colts split a DH with Lenoir winning the second game under the lights in extra innings 4-2. Orange begins conference play with the RCC series beginning this Thursday.
