Born and raised in Middletown, NY. Professor Markovits passed the Missouri Bar and the New York Bar. He teaches both Business Law 1 and Business Law 2 at the College.

He started at Orange County Community College in 1979 and became full time in 1981. He is an avid tennis player and has coached men's tennis at the College since 1981 and women's tennis since 1986.

He is married and has two daughters.
