Attention Candidates for Graduation

The Commencement Exercises will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the Physical Education Building.

Students who anticipate graduating this May 2013 need to apply for graduation from Jan. 28, 2013 through March 1, 2013 in the Records and Registration Office, Middletown Campus.

Eligible students who meet the above deadline date ensures receipt of the actual diploma at the May commencement ceremony as well as having their names on a list distributed to academic departments for consideration of awards for graduating students.  

For students who miss the above deadline date: You may still be eligible to apply through April 3, 2013.  However, your name will not be on the list distributed to academic departments for consideration of awards for graduating students and there will be no guarantee of the actual diploma being given at the May commencement ceremony.

YOU MUST CONFIRM WHETHER YOU ARE ATTENDING THE GRADUATION CEREMONY: RSVP REQUIRED BY APRIL 24.

Even though you applied for graduation through the Records and Registration Office you must still contact the Office of the Vice President for Student Services to indicate whether or not you will be participating in the Commencement Exercises. You will have to complete the electronic response card located on the left side of this page. This will ensure that your name is on the line-up.

If you miss the deadline and wish to participate in commencement you must contact the Office of the Vice President for Student Services at 845-341-4000 in order to ensure that you name appears in the line-up.

IMPORTANT DATES AND INFORMATION

With the commencement ceremony being held the Saturday after final grades are posted, notification to students not meeting graduation requirements will not occur until a day or two before the commencement ceremony, Saturday, May 18th. Please plan ahead accordingly.

In addition, students who wish to apply Spring 2013 transfer credit toward graduation requirements, must submit an official transcript to the Records & Registration Office by Tuesday, May 14th. If this does not happen, then your graduation will be deferred until August 2013. The $55.00 graduation fee will apply at that time.

Students with unresolved obligations will not be allowed to walk in the ceremony.

Required Commencement Rehearsal

Required Commencement rehearsal will be held Friday, May 17, at 9:00 a.m. SHARP until approximately 11:00am. EVERY GRADUATE participating in the Commencement ceremony MUST ATTEND rehearsal. You will be receiving your actual diploma or certificate at commencement. Therefore, a mandatory rehearsal is required! Be sure to make whatever arrangements are necessary NOW to be in attendance. Please report to the Physical Education Building located on East Conkling Ave (Middletown Campus).  Caps and gowns will not be worn during rehearsal. If you cannot attend rehearsal you must contact our office at 845-341-4000 to make an appointment to see Vice President Broadie.

If you have a disability that will prevent you from marching in the procession, please let us know, as soon as possible, so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Commencement Exercise

Our 63rd Commencement Exercise will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013, in the Physical Education Building). You should be in line by 9:25 a.m. as directed at rehearsal. Final attendance will be taken at 9:45 a.m. The program will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. It is essential that you come to campus early.  The ceremony lasts approximately 2 hours.

Your Spring 2013 grades

Your Spring 2013 grades will be available through Self-Service Banner at MySUNYOrange. If you are unable to activate your account, please call the Help Desk at (845) 341-4749.
