Instructor Bios
Ron Kopec, Chairman
Ron Kopec comes to Orange County Community College with over 35 years experience in the field of Diagnostic Imaging Education. In addition to being a Registered Radiologic Technologist, he is also a Registered nurse. He recieved a Bachelors of Science Degree from Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska, and Masters Degrees in Education /Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. He has taught all aspects of Radiography since 1972, the last ten years as program director at Essex County College in Newark New Jersey. He has significant experience as as an Allied Health educator with a proven track record of success, with a student pass rate of 99% on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist exam. As an academic leader he has developed and mentored both didatic and clinical faculty, revised curriculum, and modified teaching/testing methodologies.
Ron is married and has two sons in their twenties. He and his wife live in Sussex County, New Jersey. He is a licensed captain and an ASA certified sailing instructor. His favorite activiy is sailing with his wife along the East Coast and Caribbean.

Bob Misiak, Assistant Professor
Bob Misiak started in radiography over 30 years ago. He graduated from Overlook Hospital School of Radiography in Summit, New Jersey and then went on to Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY for his Bachelors degree.
After he completed his degree at Downstate Medical Center, he went from a staff position at Overlook Hospital to the faculty at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. Bob's teaching career then brought him to Glen Cove, Long Island where he was the Radiography Program Director. He then taught at New York City Technical College.
Bob started the Radiography Program at Orange County Community College and served as Chairman from 1989 - 2005. He has since returned to his first love and now teaches full-time in the department.
He is a Past President of the Association of Educators in Radiologic Technology of New York State and an Accreditation Site Visitor for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. His accomplishments include teaching and taking x-rays in Gabon, Africa. In addition, Bob has spoken at over 100 seminars and conferences. In his free time Bob is very active in church activities and is a church Elder.

Ann T. Verschuuren, Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator/Faculty Advisor to Radiologic Technology Club
Ann Verschuuren began her radiography career in 1979. In 1985 she began teaching Radiography at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge New Jersey. In 1991 She began teaching radiography at both Valley Hospital School of Radiography, where she was the Program Director, and Passaic County Community College. In 1995 she joined the staff here at Orange County Community College. She belongs to many professional societies including the National Educators Association, The Association of Educators in Radiologic Science, The American Society of Radiologic Technologist, the New York Educators in Radiologic Sciences, The New York Society of Radiologic Technologists, and The Mid- Hudson Society of Radiologic Technologist. In addition Ms. Verschuuren is on the Student Bowl Committee for The New York State Society, the Orange Scholarship Committee, the Orange Cultural Affairs Committee and is the Faculty Advisor to the Radiography Club. Ms. Verschuuren is also a talented artist and holds a B. A. in Art Advertising. In 1991 her article on mammography "Perfecting your Positions" was published in the national magazine R. T. Image. She also was the Key speaker at the Kaplin School, Vails Gate NY for annual teaching conference on the subject of "Integrating Critical thinking into the Curriculum". When she has any free time she likes to relax by painting and doing anything creative.
