Information for Tutors
Application
Prospective tutors pick up an application packet in the Tutorial Center.
They interview with the Coordinator of Learning Assistance Services and obtain an approval for the course(s) they are interested in tutoring.
Job Description
A Peer Tutor is recommended by his or her instructor and demonstrates a high level of academic achievement in their subject area. For further information please refer to the Peer Tutor Job Description PDF format or Peer Tutor Job Description TXT format.
A Professional Tutor must be approved for hire by both the Coordinator of Learning Assistance Services and the Academic Department Chairperson for the courses to be tutored. Scheduling
The tutor completes their schedule by entering the times that they are available to tutor. Usually a student/tutee will be scheduled with a tutor for one hour, twice a week. A tutor may have from one to 9 or 10 tutees that he/she meets with on a regular basis each week. Tutors average 6 tutoring sessions per week (range of 2 to 18)
