Below is a brief summary of the circulation policy of the library, including the borrowing privileges for certain classes of users. For more information on the Library's circulation policy, see the Library Policies page.
Students, Faculty, and Staff need to present a valid SUNY student or faculty/staff id card with an Library barcode in order to borrow items from the LRC; the barcodes are issued at the front desk of the LRC.
Summer students, Alumni Supporters, or Orange County resident users will be issued a LRC card which they can use as a substitute for the SUNY id card.
Borrowing Privileges Policy
SUNY Orange students may borrow books for 28 days and renew once if the item isn't on hold for another borrower.
SUNY Orange faculty may borrow books for one semester and renew once if the item isn't on hold for another borrower. Periodicals and videos may be borrowed for one week.
SUNY students, staff, and faculty have the same borrowing privileges as SUNY Orange students.
Alumni Supporters and Orange County residents can, for a nominal annual fee, have borrowing rights. This fee entitles them to borrow up to five books at once.
Fines are charged for overdue books at a rate of 10 cents ($.10) a day. The maximum amout a user may owe is 25 dollars. A user owing more than $5.00, however, will have a "stop-hold" placed on their record, resulting in the suspension of borrowing privileges and prevent the student from registering for classess or viewing their grades.
