Dual Reception for the "North East Watercolor Society's 2017 Members' Show" and Privitera's solo show "Windows to the Past"

Hyper-realist artist Lana Privitera will present a demonstration entitled “Texture Effects in Realistic Watercolors” at 2:30 p.m. during the dual reception for the "North East Watercolor Society’s 2017 Members’ Show" and Privitera’s solo show "Windows to the Past." Privitera, known for her photographically realistic detail will explain how she controls watercolors which are usually thought to be a looser, freer medium.

The reception, scheduled 1 to 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, starts with pianist Geoff Hamburg playing classical and jazz standards. He has a smooth style which makes him a perennial favorite at this event.

Award winners of the NEWS members’ show will be announced at the end of the reception. Privitera served as this year’s judge. The reception, demonstration, and exhibits are free and open to the public.

"Windows to the Past," consisting of thirteen works, is hung on the Fringe wall in the gallery and the NEWS show of 102 paintings is exhibited on the main floor of Orange Hall Gallery plus the Loft.

Originally, the Orange County Watercolor Society, the group grew rapidly in size and scope and changed to the North East Watercolor Society [NEWS]. Now, members come from all over the United States and Canada. An award-winning artist, Lana Privitera is a signature member of both the American Artist Professional League and the North East Watercolor Society, and a former elected member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society.
