New Scholarship Application Process Now Available to Students

The SUNY Orange Foundation is pleased to announce that in keeping with the spirit of National Scholarship Month, we are launching our new scholarship opportunities management system; AcademicWorks at This secure cloud-based solution is an industry leader, employed by most of our sister colleges throughout New York State and the Nation.  The Foundation Board invested in this system as part of its commitment to ensuring its scholarship resources are an integral part of our primary mission of making quality education at SUNY Orange affordable and accessible.

To that end, the system is available to all students, once they have received a SUNY Orange student ID# through the College, as well as all faculty and staff who support this effort.  The system is accessible anywhere you have access to the Internet, including mobile devices.

PLEASE NOTE – This system is only for SUNY Orange Foundation Scholarship Opportunities, all other financial assistance, and resources, including the New York State Excelsior Scholarship Program, Emergency Scholarships, external source scholarships, as well as public financial assistance programs, will continue to be the responsibility of the SUNY Orange Financial Aid Department.  That webpage is:

Students can apply for SUNY Orange Foundation Scholarships entirely online, review the status of their applications, and will receive updates, reminder notices, and decisions through email communication.  Similarly, faculty and staff will have access to enable them to provide recommendations or fulfill a role as a member of the scholarship committee.

IMPORTANT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION CHANGES -  This system enables the Foundation to implement important new policies to make scholarships more accessible to students, through critical new procedural changes:

The deadline for Foundation Scholarships for first-time Entering Students is August 15, 2018.  There will be interim application reviews and awards of entering scholarships before that date, so students are encouraged to complete their application as early as possible.

Completion of FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Financial Aid) is no longer required to qualify for Foundation Scholarships.  Students may explain their individual financial need for a scholarship through a narrative question on the application.  If a student does complete a FAFSA, the results will be included in the form and consideration may be given by reviewers.

Naturally, there will be a learning curve for most of us to fully appreciate how to benefit from this robust system.  Please be patient; we encourage you to access AcademicWorks online training sessions and webinars that are available through the AcademicWorks website: Periodically, we will announce updates of that information.

If you have additional questions, please email our Senior Administrative Assistant, Sharon Hood, at  Sharon will be happy to answer questions as quickly as possible.

This launch is just the beginning; over time, we will introduce additional features and enhancements available through the system.  We encourage you to look for future notices of updates, and visit the AcademicWorks website site regularly, to more fully appreciate how much this system will enhance the student, faculty, committee volunteers, and staff experience
