Wolbeck Accepts International Award in Geneva

Congratulations are in order for engineering professor John Wolbeck, who on Monday (July 2) was in Geneva, Switzerland, to accept the Norbert Gerbier-MUMM International Award.

The award was presented to Chuixiang Yi, Daniel Ricciuto, Runze Li,Wolbeck, Xiyan Xu, Mats Nilsson and 145 other contributors who co-authored a paper entitled "Climate control of terrestrial carbon exchange across biomes and continents.” The paper examined the relationships between climate and carbon exchange of land-based ecosystems that are critical to predict future levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Wolbeck was listed as the fourth author on the paper, which was published in Volume 5 (2010) of “Environmental Research Letters.” The recipients of this prestigious award, given by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), were announced several months ago and were honored at the WMO’s world headquarters earlier this week.

The authors came from 116 academic institutes in six continents.
