Invitation to PBIE Open Forums

The Planning and Budgeting for Institutional Effectiveness (PBIE) committee would like to invite staff, students and faculty to discuss the Vice Presidents’ initiatives for 2018-2019.  We will be hosting these discussions in Newburgh on Wednesday, Feb. 14 (Kaplan 201, 2 to 3:30) and in Middletown on Tuesday, Feb. 20 (RCSE 010, 11 to 12:30).

PBIE is charged with recommending to Cabinet which of the VP initiatives should be a priority as the College implements its budget and seeks additional funds from grants, the SUNY Orange Foundation, and other sources.  You can view our charge, membership, and the criteria we use to make our recommendations here.  Your input is invaluable to us in making our recommendations and we encourage you to spend some time before the forums reviewing the initiatives.  At the forums, we will collect information on your top 5 choices among the 29 VP initiatives and give you the floor to explain your choices if you’d like.

To decide on your top five initiatives, you can view them in the “prioritization grid” in PIP (2018-2019 grid).  In the grid, you’ll see how the initiatives have been ranked so far:  Level 1 shows the budget manager’s ranking and Level 2 has the AVP’s ranking where appropriate.  PBIE will review the initiatives the VPs chose as their priorities; VP rankings are in Level 3.  Once we complete our review, PBIE’s recommendations will be in the Level 4 column.  We expect to have those posted by the end of March.  You can read about each initiative by clicking on its link in the grid.  If you’d like to browse through individual detailed department plans use this link:  SUNY Orange Department Plans

You can read about the process Administration used this year to develop initiatives here.  At the forums, in addition to discussing the VP initiatives, we are interested in hearing any suggestions and comments regarding the planning and budgeting process.  Your comments will be especially helpful as PBIE and the Administration continue to work together to develop an effective, efficient and transparent process.
