"CHEERS" for Summer Youth Experience Programming

SUNY Orange was included in a "CHEERS" shoutout in the Monday, July 23 edition of the Times Herald-Record, marking the second consecutive week that the College was mentioned. Each Monday, the TH-R editorial offers cheers or jeers to people, businesses, organizations and other entities for their positive, or sometimes negative, impacts upon the local community.

On the 23rd, the TH-R featured the following recognition of the College.

CHEERS: To those Orange County businesses which have teamed up with SUNY Orange to give students a glimpse of what careers local companies have to offer and how their classes in math and science are involved. Some students will spend mornings this month at the Middletown campus with John Yelle, operations manager at Advance Coating Technologies. He’ll discuss how math and science relate to the workplace and prepare students for their afternoon trips to a different company each day including McKesson, President Container, Ball Corp. and Satin Fine foods. This evolved from a science, technology, engineering and math camp launched two years ago at the college with an architectural program, supplemented the next year with robotics. Students also can explore other fields including computer programming and crime scene investigation.
